Arturo Gamboa-Gonzalez is a third-year Mechanical Engineering Ph.D. student at UW-Madison. He received his bachelor’s degrees in Robotics and Electrical Engineering from UC Santa Cruz in 2022. Arturo’s interests include robot locomotion and dynamics & control.

Jiayi Jin is a second-year Mechanical Engineering Ph.D. student at UW-Madison. He received his bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from Tsinghua University in 2024. Jiayi’s interests include soft robotics, robot design, simulation, and control. Besides, Jiayi is also a lover of photographing and hiking.

Shuoqi Wang is a fourth-year Mechanical Engineering Ph.D. student at the UW-Madison. He earned his bachelor’s degree in ME from the UI in 2020, and his master’s degree in Robotics from the UM in 2022. His reaserach interests include soft robots, proprioception and control.

Jack Stonecipher is a third-year Mechanical Engineering PhD student at UW Madison. He received a BA in Physics with a minor in Computer Science from Gustavus Adolphus College in 2023. He is primarily interested in bioinspired robotic design. Outside of the lab, Jack is an avid reader and plays cello in a local symphony orchestra.

Kevin Macauley is a first-year Ph.D in Mechanical Engineering at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. He obtained his B.S. in Mechanical Engineering at University of Wisconsin-Madison in 2023.

Sicheng Fu is a second-year Mechanical Engineering M.S. student at UW-Madison. He graduated from Tsinghua University in 2024 with a bachelor’s degree on Aeronautical and Astronautical Engineering. Sicheng’s interests include structural mechanics & dynamics of robots, and control system.

Zhiheng Chen is a Master’s student in the Sibley School of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering at Cornell University. He is particularly interested in the analytical and data-driven modeling of dynamical systems, as well as their analysis and control based on the resulting models. During his undergraduate career, he worked on the dynamics modeling and numerical simulations of legged and aquatic robots. His current research focuses on robotic fish dynamics and the weak-form sparse identifications for dynamical systems.

Jiayi Zhang is a first-year Mechanical Engineering Master student at the UW-Madison. She earned her bachelor’s degree in ME and French from the Shanghai Jiaotong University in 2025. Her reasearch interests include soft robots and control.

Chunlin Li is a fourth-year undergraduate at the University of Toronto, majoring in Computer Science and Mathematics. He is a research intern in the lab.

Zach Rusch is a senior mechanical engineering undergraduate at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Aside from robotics, Zach is passionate about electric vehicles, 3D-printing, heavy equipment, and hiking.

Shuhao Yang is a senior undergraduate majoring in Electrical and Computer Engineering at the University of Wisconsin. He is a research intern in the lab, with primary interests in dynamic control and robotics.

Donovan O’Connor is a second-year mechanical engineering undergraduate at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. He is interested in soft robotics and bioinspired design. In his free time, Donovan enjoys playing volleyball, reading, and drawing.

Allen Gao is a 4th-year undergraduate Mechanical Engineering student at University of Wisconsin-Madison. His research interests include soft robotics, mechatronics, and advanced manufacturing. Outside of the lab, Allen enjoys playing piano and soccer.
